First Assembly of God

 World Missions

Before being taken up into heaven, Jesus gave a wonderful challenge to His disciples called the Great Commission. It was an instruction to "go into all the world and preach the good news of Salvation to everyone, everywhere" (Mark 16:15). We continue to follow that instruction by sending and funding missionaries all over the world as they teach other cultures about the gift of salvation through Christ.

2007-2008 Missions Magalog now available

The 2007-2008 Missions Magalog is now off the press.

This free 40-page publication presents missions materials on the new theme — "Everywhere" — and includes many other missions items. The magalog also features several missions articles, including one by L. John Bueno, AGWM executive director, and another by Alton Garrison, director of U.S. Missions.

Whether your church is large or small, you will find items to inform and inspire adults and children and enhance your missions convention or service.

Banners in both print and digital formats, bulletin covers, placemats, a children's activity booklet, missions musical materials, and a sermon outline booklet are among the many items you will find in this magalog.

For your convenience, both World Missions and U.S. Missions materials are included. Some resources are offered in Spanish.

If for some reason you do not receive your copy in the mail within the next few weeks, call 1.800.988.6568.  A free copy of the 2007-2008 Missions Magalog will be sent to you.

2007 World Prayer Meeting

Wednesday, July 11, the 6.6 billion people on planet earth got a generous dose of intercessory prayer as 500 missionaries from around the world and guests gathered at 6:30 p.m. for the AGWM World Prayer Meeting at School of Missions in Springfield, Missouri.

More than 600 Assemblies of God churches from throughout the United States also participated in the prayer service. Some watched a live Internet feed. Others viewed a prepared DVD that could be paused so believers could pray for each region individually. AGWM provided a one-hour delayed feed for those in Mountain Time and a two-hour delay for those on the West Coast. Churches that registered also received 15 pages of missions prayer requests.

 Reports from our Regional Directors

In his opening remarks, AGWM Executive Director John Bueno said, "I know this meeting will have an impact on our world." A DVD clip preceded comments from each regional director. Then prayer was offered for specific needs.

Eurasia Regional Director Jerry Parsley mentioned that 2,654 unreached people groups in Eurasia have never said "no" to an altar call because they have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel message. "Yet," he added, "more and more people in Eurasia are being reached with the gospel and thousands and thousands are accepting Christ."
